How to share your 3G Mobile Broadband internet with your PS3 or XBox 360

Playstation 3 and XBox 360 gaming systems are setup to use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS). This video tutorial guides you on how to share your mobile broadband internet connection.

The internet connection used in this tutorial is a 3 Mobile Broadband wireless internet connection.

Step-by-Step Instructions for sharing your 3G Wireless Internet Connection to get internet access on your PS3

Supplies needed: Ethernet cable, 3G Mobile Broadband modem

1. Connect your PC to your Playstation 3 using your ethernet cable
2. Connect to the internet using your 3G mobile broadband modem
3. Go to ‘Control Panel’ and click ‘View Network Status and Tasks’ then click ‘View Status’. On the new window click ‘Properties’
4. Click the ‘Sharing’ tab in the right hand corner of the new window
5. In the sharing settings, tick the box that says “Allow other network users to connect through this computers internet connection”. Enter your password if asked. After entering your password click ‘Ok’
   Note: If a pop-up window appears telling you that you can only share the conncetion if you are logged in, just click ‘Ok’.
6. Disconnect your mobile broadband and then reconnect. At this stage, your internet should be ready to share with your PS3!
7. On your PS3, go to ‘Network Settings’ and then click ‘Internet Connection Settings’
8. Choose the ‘Easy’ setup method. Press Right on the directional-pad on your PS3 controller and wait a few seconds. A new screen should pop up – choose “Automatic” and your PS3 will automatically find the IP address by itself. Press right on the directional pad on your controller again.
9. The following settings are depending on your own preferences and you can these yourself. On the last screen that comes up, press the ‘X’ button on your controller.
10. Test your internet connection. If the test returns a positive result, you’re ready to begin using your 3G Mobile Broadband internet connection on your PS3! Sign in to Playstation Network (PSN) and you’ll be online – Congratulations =)
