Mobile Broadband connection speeds to be faster than fibre

In less than two years, a representative of the GSMA has predicted that the speed of mobile broadband could surpass fibre networks.

Dan Warren (GSMA, Director of Technology) has made a prediction that mobile broadband speeds will be incredibly fast, exceeding 100 megabits per second. Recent 4G mobile broadband speed tests in Japan have resulted in download speeds of up to 186mbps in optimal conditions.

4G mobile broadband technology is expected to be adopted in South Korea and Japan by 2010, with many European mobile broadband providers following suit and introducing 4G technology by 2012.

The introduction of 4G mobile broadband will introduce a significantly faster wireless internet connection for consumers and further increase the rate at which people are migrating from fixed-line internet to wireless broadband internet services.
